Potential Recharge

The potential recharge was carried out for area where the pre-monsoon ground water level is less than 5.0 m.  This is computed with the purpose that if the water level can be depleted upto 5.0 m, there will be more storage space, which will take more ground water recharge.  In the State this was computed for the blocks underlain by coastal alluvium formations.  There are several blocks falling in midland and hilly areas with pre-monsoon water level of less than 5.0 m but these were not considered since in these blocks there is no scope for dewatering upto 5 m. for inducing more recharge space.

The potential recharge was also computed block wise depending upon the area and extent of the alluvial formation and the pre-monsoon water level.
