One of the most important
activities being undertaken under the Central Ground Water Authority is conducting
"Mass Awareness Programme" in critical areas. These programs help in making the
general public as well government seme government and private organizations aware of the
problems overexploitation and/or harmful effects of ground water pollution or poor quality
of ground water. The following mass awareness programs have been held in Madhya Pradesh.

disease due to excessive F content in ground water of Jhabua.
Strategies for control
and regulation of ground water development and Management-Indore.
Ground water
conservation and recharge-Sehore

in Ratlam city and need for roof water harvesting.
These mass awareness
programs have helped the general public understand the problems that they well face in
future if the ground water is continued to be over exploited as well as polluted. The
response to these programs was immense which could be gauged from the newspaper coverage
as well as the inquiries that reached the regional office in the course.

To impart training on
rainwater harvesting, especially in the water scarcity areas, is also one of the important
activity undertaken in Central Ground Water Authority. In Madhya Pradesh the following
training have been imparted.

These training programs
have been found very useful by the participants as was evident by the number of inquiries
that followed from all walks of life, be it private persons or organizations. These mass
awareness and training programs are very helpful in making the public conscious of the
importance of ground water - to keep it safe from pollution to conserve it recharge and
