Mass Awareness Programme:
One of the most important
activities being undertaken under the Central Ground Water Authority is conducting
"Mass Awareness Programme" in ground water problems areas. These programs help
in making the general public as well government, semi government and private organizations
aware of the problems of overexploitation and/or harmful effects of ground water pollution
or poor quality of ground water. The following mass awareness programs have been held in
Madhya Pradesh.
Prevention of fluorisis
disease due to excessive fluoride content in ground water of Jhabua and Seoni districts.
Strategies for control
and regulation of ground water development and Management at Indore.
Ground water pollution
in Ratlam city and need for roof water harvesting.
Rain water harvesting
techniques in village Kharbai district Raisen.
Roof water harvesting
techniques at Gwalior and Itarsi district Hoshangabad.
Mass Awareness Programme
for water conservation and roof water harvesting at Central School, Bhopal. These mass
awareness programs have helped the general public understand the problems that they well
face in future if the ground water is continued to be over exploited as well as polluted.
The response to these programs was immense which could be gauged from the newspaper
coverage as well as the inquiries that reached the regional office in the course.
Training on rainwater
harvesting:
To impart training on
rainwater harvesting, especially in the water scarcity areas, is also one of the important
activity undertaken in Central Ground Water Authority. In Madhya Pradesh the following
training have been imparted.
Training on rainwater

Training of artificial
recharge to ground water and conservation - At Chitrakoot Satna district.
Water management
training at Guna.
Water management
training at J.N.K.V. Jabalpur.
These training programs
have been found very useful by the participants as was evident by the number of inquiries
that followed from all walks of life, be it private persons or organizations. These mass
awareness and training programs are very helpful in making the public conscious of the
importance of ground water - to keep it safe from pollution to conserve it recharge and
not waste it. A lot of inquiries are received in the regional office every month from the
public who want to know more about various techniques of conservation a and recharge, both
in urban and rural areas. |
