Ground Water Management Training and Awareness

Ground Water Management Training :

The main objective of the training programme is to impart basic knowledge in hydrogeology, concepts of ground water flow system, need for ground water management, different parametres to be considered while selecting and constructing artificial recharge structures, etc. to the Disrict level functionaries of Government of Andhra Pradesh, NGOs, Students, etc.

So far 14 training programmes were conducted at Ongole, Kurnool, Khammam, Anantapur, Elamnchili, Warangal, Karimnagar, Sangareddy, Guntur, Hyderabad, Nalgonda,Warangal, Mahabubnagar and Visakhapatnam districts.

Trainings conducted in 2006-07:

Defence personnel, Hyderabad: Training programme was conducted exclusively the for Defence personnel in October,2006

Vizianagaram district : Training programme was conducted in December,2006

Kadapa district : Taining programme was conducted on 12th and 13th February 2007

Mass Awareness Programmes

Theses programmes are generally conducted in the Mandals, where ground water use is very high or management of the resource is not followed, to bring awareness among the public in general, village level representatives or groups, farmers, etc. Students of Secondary schools are encouraged to participate in drawing competition, quiz programmes, rallies, etc. related to ground water importance, conservation, rain water harvesting, pollution, etc.

So far 15 mass awareness programmes were conducted at Nalgonda, Suryapeta, Midjil, Warangal, Armoor, Jangareddigudem,Somala, Hayathnagar, Chevella, Kalikiri, Lingala, Kothavalasa, Anantapur, Nuzivedu and Lepakshi

Programmes conducted in 2006-07 :

Ramayampet of Medak district: Mass Awareness Programme was conducted in September,2006

Bhogapuram of Vizianagaram district:Mass Awareness Programme was conducted in December,2006

Kadapa district : Mass Awareness programme conducted at Vemula on 14th Feb. 2007
