Integrated Ground
Management Studies are being
carried out periodically to assess the change
in ground water regime, including its chemical
quality. Till March 2003 an area 1.45 lakh sq
km has been covered under this study.
Systematic Hydrogeological
Survey has been completed for
entire state.
Ground Water Exploration
by test drilling is one of the major thrust
area in the region. Exploratory drilling and
allied activities like long duration pumping
tests provide valuable information regarding
disposition and geometry of the aquifer and
its hydraulic parameters. Special emphasis on
exploration has been given to cover the tribal
and drought prone areas. Till March 2003, an
area of 1,64,300 sq km has been covered under
exploration .
Ground Water
Regime Monitoring under the
programme of National Network of Hydrograph
Stations is carried out in the entire state
of Gujarat and the UT of Daman & Diu . The
water level and ground water temperature monitoring
is carried out four times in a year viz. January,
May, August, and November. At 1122 Hydrograph
monitoring stations (Including 348 Piezometers).
Ground water quality is being monitored once
a year during May each year.
Geophysical Studies
are being carried out for selection of sites
through vertical Electric Sounding and Bore
Hole Logging for identification of productive
aquifer in Exploratory Tube wells.
Remote Sensing
Studies are being carried out
for site selection for exploratory drilling
and high Density Fractures mapping in hard rock
areas.
Conjunctive Use
Studies in Mahi Right Bank Canal
command area have been completed and strategies
proposed.
Rendering Solution
to any problem related to development , management
and quality of ground water.
Assessment of
dynamic and static ground water resources
is being carried out periodically in close co-ordination
with the state govt. organisations. Presently
assessment as per the guidelines formulated
in GEC 1997 is under progress.
Ground Water Pollution
Studies are being carried out
in the areas affected by industrial effluents
and urban waste as per need.
Ground Water Pollution
Studies from industrial source
and in urban areas are being carried out as
per need.
Ground water quality of areas covered under
integrated hydrogeological surveys and exploration
is being determined to assess its suitability
for various uses, viz, domestic, irrigation
and industrial sectors.
Ground water quality of deeper aquifers is monitored
by analysis of samples from exploratory tubewells
and through the purpose built piezometers.
Ground water quality of areas covered under
integrated survey is being determined to assess
its suitability for various use, viz, domestic,
irrigation and industrial sectors.
Mass awareness campaigns are arranged at several
places to impart general awareness in local
language to people regarding importance of ground
water .
Preparation of various technical reports for
planning future ground water development in
the state is being done from time to time.
Studies on rain water harvesting and artificial
recharge of ground water are being carried out
on pilot basis under central sector scheme in
resource deficit /over-exploited areas.
Groundwater Estimation and Management System
–GEMS for storage and retrieval of NNHS
data and groundwater exploration data has been
made operational.
The reports pertaining to the surveys and exploration
are periodically issued. Apart from these, state
reports, district reports/brochures/development
plans, reports on special studies, etc., are
also being issued regularly. Hydrogeological
Atlas has also been compiled.
