During the "International Fresh Water Year 2003", CGWB prepared "District Ground Water User Maps" of all the Districts of the country. These maps are available in the digital and paper formats. These maps have been prepared using the data from 1:250,000 scale and represented on the approxiamately million scale. Maps depicts the prevailing ground water conditions in the district in terms of ground water quantity, quality and feasible areas for the artificial recharge.

District Ground Water users maps has been prepared for all the States and Union Territories except for States of Arunachal Pradeshm Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and UT's of A&N, Chandigarh, Daman & Diu and Lakshdweep.

These maps are available to the Users on cost basis for which policy is under consideration of the Ministry of Water Resources.
