The district Farrukhabad is located in the western segment of Uttar Pradesh and lies
between latitude 26046000” and 27043’00’’N and longitude 79007’30” and 80002’00”. It falls in
survey of India Toposheets No. 54M and 54N. The district bounded on the south by Kanpur and
Etawah district on the east by Hardoi and on west by Etah with Mainpuri district on the North by
Shahjahanpur and Badaun district.
Farrukhabad district has geographical area of 2181sq km, Farrukhabad the Headquarter
of the district is an important township. The other townships of importance are Kannauj,
Kaimganj, Chibbramau, Gurshaiganj etc. For the administrative purposes, Farrukhabad district, a
segment of Allahabad division has been divided into form tehsils namely Kaimganj, Farrukhabad,
Chibbramau and Kannauj. There are 87 NyaiPanchayat and 594 Gram Panchayat in the district.
Figure-1.1 shows administrative map of the district. Recently the district has been divided into
two district .The other one is named as Kannauj district .The Tehsil which falls under Kannauj
district are Kannauj and Chibbramau.Farrukhabad the district headquarter is well connected by
road and rail in the Delhi and Lucknow. G.T. road passes through the area connecting the major
towns like Kannauj, Gurshaiganj, Chibbramau. Beside this several metals roads radiate from
Farrukhabad town to connect all the block head quarter and other towns Number of metalled
and unmetalled road links the interior villages with the main roads of the area, Thus making the
major part of the district approachable in all seasons. The main Kanpur–Kasganj metro gauge line
of the NE railway passes through the district connecting Kannauj, Gurshaiganj, Fatehgarh,
Farrukhabad and Kaimganj town. Farrukhabad is also connected with Mainpuri and Shikohabad
by broad gauge line of N.E. Railways.
