Aquifer mapping is a process wherein a combination of geologic, geophysical, hydrologic and chemical field and laboratory analyses are applied to characterize the quantity, quality and sustainability of groundwater in aquifers. The primary objective of the Aquifer Mapping Exercise can be summed up as “Know your Aquifer, Manage your Aquifer”. According to the 2011 census, the total population of Bharuch district is 1,551,019 persons. The density of population is 238 souls per sq km. As per the estimate of ground water resources and irrigation potential, there exists a scope for
further development of groundwater resources in major parts of the district. As per GWRE 2017 all 09 blocks of Bharuch district are under safe category, the stage of Ground Water Development varies from 5.51 % (Hansot Taluka) to 53.37 % (Amod Taluka). The overall groundwater development in the district is 33.65 %. Thus, management of groundwater resources could be developed/augmented in a judicious way.
