National Aquifer Mapping (NAQUIM) has been taken up in XII five-year plan by CGWB to carry out detailed hydrogeological investigation on 1:50,000 scale. Akola district is one of the eleven districts of Vidarbha Region of Maharashtra State. It is situated in the northern part of the State adjoining Madhya Pradesh and parts of the Purna River Alluvium affected by inland salinity. Aquifer mapping studies of the district carried out for deciphering Aquifer geometry, Aquifer characteristics, conceptualization of aquifer system, Identification of ground water issues and preparation of ground water management plan.
