National Aquifer Mapping (NAQUIM) has been taken up in XII five-year plan by CGWB to carry out detailed hydrogeological investigation on 1:50,000 scale. Bhandara district is a one of the districts of the Vidarbha Region in Maharashtra State. It is newly formed district and carved out by the division of Bhandara district into Bhandara and Gondia districts in May 1999. It is situated in the north eastern part of Maharashtra Aquifer mapping studies of the district carried out for deciphering Aquifer geometry, Aquifer characteristics, conceptualization of aquifer system, Identification of ground water issues and preparation of ground water management plan.
