Bijnor district is a segment of Rohilkhand or Bareilly division and geographically falls in the north western part of Uttar Pradesh. The geographical area of the district is 4561 sq. km (Statistical Diary,2021) and falls within the Survey of India Toposheet No. 53K. Its latitudinal longitudinal extent varies from 29˚00’00”N to 29˚45’00”N and 78˚00’00”E to 78˚59’00”E respectively. The district shares its boundary with the state of Uttarakhand in the north east, JP Nagar Moradabad district in the south, and Meerut Muzzaffarnagr districts in the west. From the administrative point of view, the district has been divided into 5 sub-divisions/tehsils namely Bijnor, Chandpur, Dhampur, Nagina and Najibabad and 11 developmental blocks (Plate 1). The geographical area of each block in given in Table 1. The district headquarter is situated at Bijnor city. The district is approachable both by rail road. The district is well connected with its adjoining districts by metalled roads. The entire district has a good network of all-weather roads.
