National Aquifer Mapping (NAQUIM) has been taken up in XII five-year plan by CGWB to carry out detailed hydrogeological investigation on 1:50,000 scale. Amravati District is one of the eleven districts of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra State. The district is bounded on the north by Madhya Pradesh, on the east by Nagpur and Wardha districts, and on the south and south west by Yavatmal, Akola and Buldhana districts. Aquifer mapping studies of the district carried out for deciphering Aquifer geometry, Aquifer characteristics, conceptualization of aquifer system, Identification of ground water issues and preparation of ground water management plan.
