National Aquifer Mapping (NAQUIM) has been taken up in XII five-year plan by CGWB to carry out detailed hydrogeological investigation on 1:50,000 scale. The Warud and Morshi talukas located in Amravati district of Maharashtra State. The Warud and Morshi talukas are the part of famous ‘Orange belt’ of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. It is famous for orange/sweet lime cultivation. Over the period of years, the ground water is being exploited for cultivation of oranges/sweet lime. Due to which, the ground water development has been drastically raised. Aquifer mapping studies of the Warud and Morshi talukas of Amravati district carried out for deciphering Aquifer geometry, Aquifer characteristics, conceptualization of aquifer system, Identification of ground water issues and preparation of ground water management plan.
