National Aquifer Mapping (NAQUIM) has been taken up in XII five-year plan by CGWB to carry out detailed hydrogeological investigation on 1:50,000 scale. Buldhana is the western most district of Vidarbha. The district headquarters is located at Buldhana Town. For administrative convenience, the district is divided in 13 talukas viz, Buldhana, Chikhli,Motala, Deulgaon Raja, Jalgaon (Jamod), Khamgaon, Lonar, Malkapur, Mehkar, Nandura, Sangrampur, Sindkhed Raja , Shegaon. Aquifer mapping studies of the district carried out for deciphering Aquifer geometry, Aquifer characteristics, conceptualization of aquifer system, Identification of ground water issues and preparation of ground water management plan.
