National Aquifer Mapping (NAQUIM) has been taken up in XII five-year plan by CGWB to carry out detailed hydrogeological investigation on 1:50,000 scale. The Yavatmal district is one of the eleven districts of Vidarbha Region of Maharashtra. It is bounded on east by Yavatmal district, on south by Andhra Pradesh State and Nanded district on west by Washim and Hingoli districts and on north by Amravati and Wardha districts. Aquifer mapping studies of the district carried out for deciphering Aquifer geometry, Aquifer characteristics, conceptualization of aquifer system, Identification of ground water issues and preparation of ground water management plan
