Chittorgarh district is located in the southern part of the state of Rajasthan, in the north-western part of India. The district stretches between 24° 12' 57" to 25° 12' 55" North latitude and 74° 06' 10" to 75° 49' 08" East longitude, covering an area of 7,880 km2 (about 3.17 % of the Rajasthan
State) of land. It has an average elevation of 394 metres (1292 ft.) above Mean Sea Level, with a major portion of the district forming part of Banas River Basin, while the eastern region is part of Chambal River Basin and Mahi River Basin forms the extreme southern part. It is bounded in the
north by Bhilwara and Bundi districts, in the east by Kota district, in the west by Udaipur and Rajsamand districts and in the south by Pratapgarh district along with Neemuch district of the state of Madhya Pradesh.
