Agatti Island is a 7.6 km long and 0.9 km wide (maximum breadth) island and is situated on a coral atoll, called Agatti atoll, in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, India. It is the westernmost and
the farthest of the inhabited islands. Geographically, it is located at the latitude of 10°51' N and longitude of 72°11' E. It is in the shape of the baseball stick, elongated in the NNE- SSW direction and
has a vast lagoon on its western side that covers an area is 17.50 km2. It covers an area of 2.71 sq. km. Agatti is located about 459 km off Kochi in the mainland and 7 km southwest of the nearest
uninhabited island Bangaram. Kavaratti, the closest inhabited island, lies 54 km to the SE of this island. Agatti is connected to Cochin by sea route. The southern half of the island is mostly uninhabited and the airport is located in this part.
