Chandigarh known as “THE CITY BEAUTIFUL” is a Union Territory (U.T.) located at the
foothills of the Siwaliks about 250 kms north of Delhi. The city also has the distinction of being the
joint capital of Punjab and Haryana states even though it does not form part of any of the two
States. It lies between north latitudes 30o40’ and 30o46’ and east longitudes 76o42’ and 76o51’ and
falls in Survey of India toposheet no. 53B/13 53B/14. Punjab state borders the UT in the south
and southwestern sides and Haryana state on eastern side
