The aquifer mapping Programme, three blocks of Kanker District namely Charama, Kanker
and Narharpur were taken up covering an area of 1989 sq. km. The remaining blocks
Bhanupratappur, Koylibeda, Durgkondal and Antagarh are excluded as they are naxal affected.
The Kanker district is bounded by East longitudes of 80°25’ to 81°47’ and by North Latitudes of
19°47’ to 20°33’ and is surrounded by Narayanpur and Kondagaon district in South, Dhamtari
district in east, Balod and Rajnandgaon district in North and Maharashtra state in East
respectively(Figure1) . The district falls under Survey of India toposheet no. 64H/3, 64H/4,
64H/7, 64H/8, 64H/11, 64D/9, 64D/12, 64D/13, 64D/15 64D/16.
