The district Banda is named after the Headquarters town Banda. It is said to have derived its name from “Bamdeo” a sage in Hindu mythology and contemporary of Lord Rama. Banda district is one of the important and water scarcity district in Bundelkhand
region of U.P. Present ground water is not enough to meet the requirement either due to non- feasibility of construction of tube wells or quality problems encountered in patches.
