When I start GEMS Application following message is displayed:
"ORA-12535: TNS operation Times out. Drivers's SQL SQLSetConnectAttr failed.
Probably there's something wrong with the server on which Oracle is installed. Check whether the Server is switched on or not. If the server is switched on then check ODBC connectivity of the Server. If the server ODBC conection is OK then there is something wrong with the Network Connection. First check netowrk connectivity by Pinging the server from Client. If the network connection of the Client is OK then Check for ODBC conectivity of the Client. If ODBC connection of Client is OK then Start GEMS Application. GEMS application would start.
For Checking ODBC connectivity following seps are suggested:
Start - Settings- Control Panel-Administrative Tools -Data Sources (ODBC) - System DSN-Configure -Test Connection

The following error message displayed when GEMS-Administration is clicked in the server machine.
ERROR MESSAGE
ORA-12154, TNS;couldnot resolve server name - Driver SQL set connect Attr failed.
Hence we are not able to open the database in the server machine. Kindly advice.
ORA-12154 error is related to local copy of the tnsnames.ora file, listener configuration and database name aliases. Try following steps:
1. First Check for ODBC connectivity:
Control Panel-administrative Tools- Data Sources (ODBC) -System DSN-configure-test connection- service Name ( GEMSPDB)-username cgwb- password - - *******
If the connection is established then application should work.
2. If you are getting error then what is the error ? you may get the same error. Is Data Source Name 'cgwb' and TNS Service name 'GEMSPDB" is automatically filled in the Oracle ODBC Driver configuration screen ?
3. Was the server working earlier and the error has been developed recently or is it a new installation ?
4. search using search option tnsnames.ora and listner .ora file (they are usually in oracle\ora92\network\admin) then send copy both the files for analysis to cgwb@nic.in
5. After running the gems administration application two three times, search recently opened/created files, one or two log files must have been created by Oracle.
By analysing log files you maybe able tolocate the exact cause. In case you are not able to lidentyfy the cause of te error then, please send the log files to cgwb@nic.in so that the exact cause be identified.
After analysing all the above mentioned files we may be able to point the exact cause of the problem, so please send all of the above mentioned files.
