Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) carries out activities like Public Interaction Programmed (PIP), Block Level Training Programmes, Workshops etc to disseminate the findings of scientific studies and create awareness. A brief account of Outreach Activities of CGWB is given below.
Public Interaction Programmes being implemented by CGWB are one day programme for dissemination of outputs of NAQUIM and other related studies and create awareness. The programme also involves area specific discussions on ground water issues and possible solutions. The Public Interaction Programmes have been dovetailed with the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Mission Life Campaign. To promote the concept of LiFE (Life Style for Environment), a special talk on this is included in the PIPs. The PIP activities were introduced in 2018 and so far more than 1300 such programmes have been conducted in which more than 1 lakh persons have participated. add image

Mission LiFe initiatives by CGWB
Rajiv Gandhi National Ground Water Training and Research Institute (RGNGWTRI) is implementing a three tiered (Tier I: National, Tier II: State, Tier III: District/Block) training programme. Region Offices of Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) carry out the Tier II and Tier III training programmes. The Tier III trainings are aimed at creating awareness, teaching common skills required for ground water measurement and discuss local issues and challenges. The three tiered trainings started in 2012. On an average 50 such trainings are conducted every year. So far (upto 31st March 2023), 563 trainings have been conducted in which 78096 persons have been imparted training.

- Awareness Programmes in Schools::As an initiative to educate the school students about the need for Rainwater Harvesting and Artificial recharge, CGWB had conducted school level mass awareness programmes during the year 2019-20. In total, 303 school-level awareness programmes were carried out by CGWB across 22 states and UTs of the country during this period. Around 36185 students participated in these mass awareness programmes.
- Painting Competitions/Essay Competitions:: Painting Competitions were organized by Region Offices during 2010-18. 7 painting competitions and 2 Essay competitions have been conducted, in which more than 20 lakh students participated.
- Workshops on Palaeochannel :: Central Ground Water Board held three workshops on palaeochannels at Ahmedabad, Allahabad and Jodhpur in 2015-16.
- Nadi Utsav:: The River Festival- 2021 program was formally launched through the flagging-in of Ganga Mashal on 16th December 2021 by the Hon’ble Minister of Jal Shakti Minister, Sh. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Nadi Utsav 2021 was a pan India celebration which is jointly organized by Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti and Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India from 17th to 23rd Dec, 2021. The event was organized to celebrate rivers such as Brahmaputra, Indus, Narmada, Sabarmati, Mahanadi, Krishna, Godavari, Cauvery, Ganga, Yamuna, amongst several others. The celebrations were part of Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav campaign commemorating 75 year of India’s independence. CGWB organised 15 Nadi Utsav programs in 14 States along the River banks thereby spreading a message of river cleaning, awareness for water conservation and river protection, rain water harvesting, afforestation etc. The events was attended by 1751 people including 749 female participants. - JalKrantiAbhiyan:: Jal Kranti Abhiyan was launched by the Ministry of Water Resources, RD & GR simultaneously at Jaipur, Shimla& Jhansi on 5th June, 2015. The Central Ground Water Board organized launching of the program at Jaipur. The Board has also organized 15 workshops on Water Conservation, Water Security, Water Quality, Climate Change & Best Practices in States of Assam Upper, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Chhatisgarh, Goa, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Puduchery, West Bengal, A & N islands and 10 Water Management Training Programme in Kerala, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, J&K, Chhatisgarh, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Bihar & Jharkhand under JalKrantiAbhiyan.
